Each year from January through early February, Helping Hands OV invites our community to spread love and joy through our Valentines for Seniors program. We ask individuals, families, schools, scouts, sports teams, and community groups to create homemade Valentine’s cards and drop them off at participating local businesses.

Our amazing volunteers then collect, read, and count every single card before delivering them to senior citizens across the Sacramento region — including care homes, assisted living, independent living communities, and more.

This is such a fun and meaningful way to brighten someone’s day while teaching kids (and kids at heart!) about kindness and compassion. Whether you’re a Boy Scout troop, Girl Scout troop, school classroom, sports team, or just a caring neighbor, your heartfelt Valentine could make all the difference for a senior who might not otherwise receive one.
